Our areas of expertise
Family law
Switzerland is a confederation of 26 cantons, with legislative authority divided between the confederation and the cantons. Federal law governs family and divorce matters. However, these matters are handled by the courts of different cantons, so procedural law can vary significantly from one canton to another.
Lease law
We handle all aspects of rental disputes, regardless of the type of lease (residential lease or commercial lease): drafting contracts (common law lease, housing lease, commercial lease) or official letters (termination, request for cancellation, etc.); intervention in lease termination procedures, validation of notice, reassessment of clearly undervalued rents, or eviction.
Contract law
Contracts are omnipresent in the daily lives of individuals and businesses. A simple sales contract imposes certain obligations on the parties. Contract law encompasses several legal rules that govern all contracts. The legal experts at the “Consultation juridique du Valentin” Association have expertise in contract law and provide support to individuals and legal entities during the negotiation stages.
Inheritance law
Inheritance law in Switzerland is precisely regulated in various articles of the Civil Code. In the absence of a will or inheritance contract, the law determines the share allocated to the various heirs. According to the Swiss Civil Code, the order of succession is determined by a system of the deceased's family relationships.
The legal situation of foreigners is determined by the Federal Constitution, the constitutions of the cantons, union laws, and other regulations of the Swiss Confederation. The fundamental law governing the entry, exit, and stay of foreigners in Switzerland is the Federal Act on Foreign Nationals of December 16, 2005. According to this law, a foreigner is required to obtain a residence permit to stay in the territory.
Personality law
Personality rights cover aspects of protection for each individual, such as physical, mental, and social protection; our legal experts provide advice, for example, on the right to a name and image (photography, Internet, TV, advertising, etc.), the right to vote, the right to free speech, and the right to privacy.
