Admission as a annuitant

A retiree can be admitted to Switzerland provided that they are at least 55 years old, have specific personal connections to Switzerland, and have sufficient financial means.

First, concerning the condition of specific personal connections, past stays in Switzerland, the presence of close relatives residing in Switzerland, ownership of real estate, participation in cultural events, and existing business or local community connections are factors that will be considered.

To ensure that the retiree has sufficient financial means, it must be practically assured that they will not resort to social assistance in the future. Therefore, they must have sufficient resources to exceed the amount that entitles them to supplementary benefits. This sum includes the amount of your rent, health insurance premiums, and CHF 11,760 per year for other expenses.

Additionally, the person wishing to settle in Switzerland must declare that they have fully retired from professional life and commit not to engage in any gainful activity in the future, both in Switzerland and abroad.

Once in Switzerland, the retiree must make it their center of interest. Failure to do so may result in the non-renewal of their residence permit by the competent authority.

Regarding the retiree's spouse and children, their admission to Switzerland is possible under the usual family reunification conditions. An article on this topic is already available on our page.
